Brewgravity

Free brewing software

Free, without an asterisk

Most "free" brewing software caps your recipes, expires after thirty days, or charges extra for mobile. Brewgravity's free plan has none of that: unlimited recipes, unlimited brew sessions, and your data exportable any time.

Email and password, or sign in with Google. That is the whole sign-up.

Free brewing software compared

  • Brewfather — free tier with caps, subscription for the real product. The best choice if you own a Tilt, an iSpindel or a controller.
  • Brewer’s Friend — free calculators for anyone, a free account tier with a recipe cap, subscription beyond that. Much larger public recipe database than we have.
  • BeerSmith — free trial, then a paid desktop license, with cloud sync sold separately. Deeper than anything else if you want that depth.
  • Brewtarget — genuinely free and open source, desktop, and a reasonable choice if you want software you can compile yourself. No sync, no mobile.
  • ProMash — shareware, Windows only, unmaintained.

Free brewing software questions

What is the catch?

No catch. No credit card, no trial window, no recipe cap. If paid tiers appear later they will add things like hardware integrations and club features on top of the free plan, not take things away from it.

How is it free?

It is cheap to run. A browser app on serverless infrastructure with no servers idling and no sales team. A free plan that covers everyday homebrewing costs very little to operate.

Do I have to give you a credit card?

No. Email address and password, or sign in with Google. That is the whole sign-up.

Can I get my data out?

Any recipe exports to BeerXML or BeerJSON on the free plan. If you ever want to leave, you leave with your recipes.

Are the calculators free too?

Yes, and they do not need an account. Every calculator on this site is a static page that computes in your browser.
